The 2012 Social and Mobile Commerce Study from the National Retail Federation is out. Press release here. According to their report:
· The number of consumers who reported using social media for deals and coupons fell to 51% from 58% last year.
· 43% are looking for product information. 36% want to post/read comments about merchandise/services.
· Smartphone users are most likely to use their device for social reasons, like contacting friends and family about products, and searching for items nearby. Tablets are more likely to be used to make purchases and comparison shop.
· Consumers reported following an average of 9.3 retail companies on Pinterest, 8.5 on Twitter and 6.9 on Facebook.
