IBM has released their Retail Online Index, an analysis of the online retail sector. Through their research, they found over the last quarter consumers continue to make more purchases via mobile, accounting for 15% of all online purchases. Sales traced to social media have declined 20% only accounting for 1.9% of online sales. Additionally, IBM found that though total online sales are down (Q2 vs. Q1), the average value of each order, and number of items per order were up 2.3% and 2.6%, respectively.
