DVDs, CD, games, all ok to resell. Digital music, not so much (yet). ReDigi, the start-up looking to create a clearinghouse for buying and reselling tracks from iTunes, hit a bump recently in their plan when they were sued by Universal Music Group’s Capitol Records for copyright violation. As of Saturday, U.S. District Judge Richard Sullivan sided with Universal, claiming “unless the copyright owner gives you explicit permission to do so, you can’t resell a digital media file.” Both sides are headed back to court later this month.
